How in the world did this become an AP story? Apparently, BlackBerry users are in awe of the “phantom ringtone” phenomenon. Hi, guys. Welcome to the 21st century. I’m Joe, and I’ve had a cell phone since 2000. Guess what? I’ve been hearing my ringtone and feeling my phone vibrate since, well, 2000. Yet BlackBerry users are marveling at this now?
This quote really gets us:
“I’ll feel it, look at it. It’s not vibrating. Then it starts vibrating,” said public relations director Jake Ward to the AP said. “I am one with my BlackBerry.”
No, Jake, you’re just an idiot. You feel it vibrate because it always rests in the same spot on your body. Your body develops a muscle twitch, and when it twitches, you think it’s vibrating. But it’s not; the vibration is much more violent than your twitch. And to explain why it vibrates after he looks at it: Your BlackBerry probably vibrates frequently. You could have looked at it on a whim and had just as good a chance of it vibrating then, too.
Sorry. We don’t want to sound like dicks, but this is old news. Like, at least five years old.
