We’ve talked plenty about Gmail and BlackBerry, but what about some other free email services? Once upon a time, you had to pay for a premium service to sync up your Yahoo! Mail, but those days are gone. Now you can sync this your @yahoo.com address with your BlackBerry just as seamlessly as your Gmail. Today we’ll walk you through the steps. BIS users ahoy!
I’m going to take this from the desktop BIS setup first, and then show how it’s done on-device. Thankfully, there will be far more pictures than text for this how-to.
Desktop BIS setup
First, go to your BIS account and login. On the main screen, you should see an icon that says Set Up Account. Click on it.

On the next screen, you’ll be prompted for the email address and password. Do that.

Seriously, that’s it. You’re done. Notice the new @yahoo.com email address in your Valid Email Accounts listing.

Handset email setup
First, you’ll select Email Settings, and then you’ll login to your BIS. Then you’ll click on Email Accounts.

Next, you’ll click on Add Email Account, and then on the next screen enter in your information. Just like you would have on the desktop setup.

And that’s it. You’ve successfully set up your Yahoo! Mail account for free with your BlackBerry. Soon enough, we’ll get into the Yahoo! contacts sync, which can be a valuable tool for the self-employed.

Thanks!!!
Thanks for the tutorial. Question: I set up a friend’s for yahoo mail, and i can send and receive messages. But I cannot see any existing yahoo emails on the Storm i.e. from any time prior to the setup. How do I get and display the “legacy” emails? Also, do you know if these are “POP”ed to the Storm and removed from the server? I DO NOT want them removed from server… Any info would be appreciated.
TKS.
