Brilliant. Thank you for the post. It helped me all the way until then end. I use the newest version (as of May 2011) of the BlackBerry Desktop so I could not figure how to grab the file since I do not have the "add" buttom. If you click on "Applications" on the left side and then click on the "import files" button (after everything loads) you can then find your file you saved somewhere on your computer and import the file for the third party applications. Then click "apply" and you are all done

Thanks for this page. Apparently RIM has realised the need. I have switched handset using Blackberry Desktop Manager v 5.0.1.28. In first attempt, it copied only Bb applications and data. Noting that 3rd party apps and data was missing, I read your page. I attempted second time and the same process copied all including 3rd party applications. It also offered to wipe off old handset which I did. ALL personal data was wiped off and it left 3rd party application icons uninstalled. I deleted the applications of my organisation. The old handset was as blank as new. Cheers...

Thank you for this. It helped with step 1 of a trouble shooting process regarding my alarm clock not sounding when I turn the phone off at night. I thought it was an issue with a third part app that I installed, but I didn't want to delete it and pay for it again. Turns out, it wasn't that app. Still more trouble shooting, but at least I could rule one thing out.
Much appreciated!

thanks a lot for the article, it did help but just a slight little change in the new desktop manager you will find the switch device, on the top left corner, click "device" from the drop down menu select, switch device, and click on you blackberry in the dialog box, click next it will copy all you data as well as apps, then leave that screen on, and unplug your old blackberry from the usb cable and connect the new one. click "i've connected my new blackberry device" in the bottom of the dialog box.
thats it, enjoyy!!!
