Next time you’re next to someone who’s using a BlackBerry, don’t just assume that they’ve got their nose to the grindstone. It appears that BlackBerry users like to play games a lot — even more than feature cell phone subscribers. Because, you know, all work and no play makes people go crrraaazzy.
This comes from an interview with John Criswick, CEO of Magmic Games, which develops game for the BlackBerry. They speak about why they chose to develop for the BlackBerry rather than other, seemingly more recreational devices (they reach 70 to 80 percent of BlackBerry users).
Just how many BlackBerry users, in total, play games, you ask? Oh, just 760,000 to 800,000. Nothing big, ya know? But sarcasm aside, that’s a huge number, and a market that doesn’t seem logical at first thought.
