As we mentioned in last week’s BlackBerry News From The Wire, visual voicemail service YouMail has released an application for BlackBerry. Normally, I’d jump for joy over this; I despise carrier voicemail, and YouMail is a good alternative. Problem is, the app is full of bugs and isn’t even worth the install. A few outlets mentioned VyMail as an alternative. It looks quality, and now they’ve upgraded the service.
The image on the right tells most of the story. It’s an easy to navigate listing of your voicemails, with the ability to mark each with various flags. The creator, Joe Krill, has added a few new features, moving his application even further ahead of the competition. Notable among the additions: headset and Bluetooth support, new message alerts, home screen icon notification for new messages, multiple-item selection, shortcut keys for message playback/flagging, and a player progress bar.
If you use YouMail on your BlackBerry, it would seem this is an essential application. Many thanks to Mr. Krill for working on this to provide the best possible application, and thanks to BerryReview for pointing it out to us. You can download VyMail OTA with this link, or if you prefer the sideloading option you can download it to your desktop here.
