Vlingo Everywhere recognizes speech in all parts of your BlackBerry
Posted by Joe on December 11, 2009
Ever since I first tried Vlingo a year and a half ago, I’ve been a fan. There are so many times when typing is not the optimal way for me to enter text — like now, when my fingers are frozen (long story). The application has evolved since then, and now features a premium version with even more voice to text options. The latest is called Vlingo Everywhere, which does just what the name implies. It lets you enter voice text into any field on your BlackBerry. If there’s a text field, just press the Vlingo hot key, speak your text, and then paste it. It’s a great addition to Vlingo Plus, the premium version of the app.
Here’s a quick video demo of how Everywhere works.
If you’re thinking about getting Vlingo Premium, you can check out its features on the product page. As you can see there, the upgrade from Premium to Everywhere isn’t free. That’s a shame. If you currently have Vlingo 3.0, upgrading to 4.0, which includes Everywhere, costs $9.99. That’s going to spark ire among some premium users, I’m sure. New Vlingo customers, or those who only have the free version, can buy the package for $14.99 now, from the same page. That’s a limited time offer, though.
If you think you can get by with basic features, like text messaging, calling, Web searches, and updating your Facebook and Twitter, you can get the free version at App World. As I said in my first review, even without the advanced features it’s pretty cool.
Hat tip, IntoMobile.

Only problem I have with Vlingo is there customer support. Upgraded to a new phone and will have to re-buy the software, the same software I paid full price for less than four months ago.
I know some people don’t think so, but making sure the company your purchase from has good support is almost as good as the product itself.
