I found this app on BB Cool and I just had to share it. It’s called Beyond160, and it’s a mighty cool application for those on CDMA networks (Verizon, Sprint, Bell, Telus). It allows you to type messages of any length, rather than abiding by the 160 default character limit. More info after the jump, including where you can get this nifty app.
Apparently, Verizon customers can do this already to other Verizon customers — just not those with BlackBerry devices. I have friends with dumbphones who can type as long as they want (there’s some 1,000 character limit or something, which is almost never reached), and Verizon will break it up into shorter messages. I tried this on my BlackBerry, to no avail. So maybe that’s the BlackBerry software.
Anyway, Beyond160 just breaks up your messages and sends them 160 characters at a time. Like a good app, it routes them through your SMS Outbox, so you’ll have the archive of the messages.
You can get Beyond160 at the BBGeeks Store for $6.99. If you’re one to send long messages, this could be a useful one.
