We get a lot of questions here at BBGeeks, but perhaps none with the frequency of how to listen to podcasts. For the longest time users had to download the audio file, either to their desktop or, in some lucky instances, over the air. Yet there are precious few ways to stream podcasts. Here’s one that was just brought to my attention: Stitcher. The application allows you to choose which podcasts you want, and then you can create your own custom channels. Sounds like a winner right there.

The above image describes the process. You select your shows, put them together into a channel (called “stitching”), and then listen to them as you want. They’ll stream over your data connection, so make sure you’ve got an unlimited one, or at least one of the ones with a 5GB limit.
Unfortunately, Stitcher is only available for a select few BlackBerry models. These include the Curves 8300, 8310, 8320, and 8900, the Bold, the Storm, the 8800, and the 8820. I wanted to try this one out while I was bumming around yesterday, but it’s not available for the 8330. I even lied about my device, but Stitcher was too smart, telling me that an 8330 version would be available soon.
Head over to Stitcher’s website to get the download. You just enter in your phone number or email address at the bottom, and they’ll send you a link. Please, let us know what you think. I’m dying to know.

They’ve been claiming to be working on a 8330 version for a while. I’m not holding my breath. I’d love to have it on my 8330, though!
MediaFly, once they’re done with it should be better. I can only play the most recent podcast episodes w/stitcher. Mediafly drinks application memory on my Bold.
Downloaded Stitcher to Curve 8310, OS 4.5, yesterday. It works well except that it hogs memory to run and burns through the battery in a hurry. Will be nice in the car when I can plug it in and not be multi-tasking on the phone.
Using Orb and Juice (easier to automate than Itunes) on my home pc I can log in with my blackberry and stream all of my podcasts just fine.
