In composing a text message the other day, I got a bit frustrated that I hit the 160 character limit. On most Verizon phones, when you’re texting another Verizon customer you can go basically unlimited, and the carrier will break it up into 160-character transmissions for you. Not on a BlackBerry, though. The system software limits all text messages, regardless of recipient, to 160 characters. If you find that as annoying as I do, you might want to check out Beyond160. It allows you to send text messages of any length, and it will break them down into 160 characters for you. Of course, each portion will count as its own text message, so make sure you have a big or unlimited bundle. You can get Beyond160 at the BBGeeks Store for $6.99. It works on any OS.
