Last week on the BBGeekcast, BBGeeks regular DavidB left a comment hoping that sometime soon, someone would develop a way to download and listen to podcasts on BlackBerry. The newest Viigo promised podcasts, but we’ve yet to see that. So it’s appropriate this week that Craig at CrackBerry reviewed PodTrapper, a program which can download podcasts right to your BlackBerry. Yes, we’re talking OTA. We’ll have the details after the jump.
The setup process is best done over the air by going to http://ota.versatilemonkey.com/ from your BlackBerry browser. You can go to the main versatilemonkey.com site and download the files to your desktop, but Craig notes some issues with that. If your’re on an unlimited plan I’d definitely recommend the OTA download. If that’s not your bag, head to PodTrapper at the BBGeeks Store. It costs $9.99, but you can nab a free trial.
The biggest downside I can see is that you have to manually enter in the podcast feed address. I’m presuming that they’ll add a search feature in the future, but for now you might want to know the address of the BBGeeks feed. Thankfully, it’s easy.

We’ll be putting up another edition of the podcast later today, so you’ll get your chance to try it out. If anyone does, let me know how it goes for you.

RE: Podtrapper ota download: I tried this a few minutes ago on my BB Curve with Sprint.
I get an error message saying ‘unknown host http://www.http:80
Any ideas?
Did you load a page for the OTA download, or did it go straight there? I’ll go back and make sure the link is correct.
