Some people don’t trust it, but I use PayPal to manage many aspects of my business and personal finance. Since I work so often in electronic payments, it does help to have everything in one place. What they lack, of course, is a BlackBerry application. They already have a version for the iPhone and Android, and it’s high time they put one out for the most popular smartphone platform in the country. What’s that, you say? They have one that’s ready for release? Excellent. PayPal has, in fact, announced its Send Money application for BlackBerry. It’s not comprehensive, but it’s a start.
As the name suggests, the application only allows you to send money. That’s one of PayPal’s primary functions, but there are many others, such as managing your account and sending invoices, which I’d like to see implemented on a BlackBerry application. For now all you can do beyond sending money is view your balance and your past transactions. I suppose those that’s useful information to have on the fly. But it could be so much more.
The idea, hopefully, is to have this be a starting block to a more comprehensive application. In fact, I’d probably pay a good $5 for said app. It would be an enormous convenience — all those times I remember I need to send an invoice when I’m not near my computer. With a full PayPal app, though, I could do it right then and there.
The Send Money application is free, and is available to customers in the following countries: Canada, USA, UK, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Ireland, Portugal and Australia. You can get the PayPal Blackberry application at App World here.
Hat tip: BlackBerry Rocks.
