MobiTV brings service to BlackBerry

Just as Sling Media announced the future availability of SlingBox on your BlackBerry, MobiTV has jumped in with another mobile television application. If you’ve got the Pearl 8130, you can have access to the MobiTV application, which allows users to view live TV and other video and music content, right from their BlackBerry.

“We are excited to offer our award-winning mobile television service to BlackBerry customers on the BlackBerry Pearl 8130,” said Paul Scanlan,
president and co-founder of MobiTV. “This announcement furthers our goal of
providing our innovative services to mobile users around the world, making our
television and radio products available on more than 250 different mobile
devices.”

MobiTV is actually the service behind Sprint TV and Alltel’s Axcess services. Their services now extends across 20 wireless providers, now including Verizon, the other company — beyond Sprint and Alltel — which carries the 8130.

There’s no mention of whether this will become available on other CDMA BlackBerry devices, but it figures to be if it’s a success. You can grab the service through your wireless provider, or by visiting handango.com or mobitv.com.
