We’re seeing a lot of voice-controlled applications hit the market for BlackBerry. While Yahoo! is making a bid with oneSearch, Microsoft wants a piece of the market, too. So they’ve launched their Tellme service for BlackBerry. So if you’re looking for a business location, traffic info, movie times, or just looking to get un-lost, you can talk to your device and have it spit out information. It even integrates with your GPS to give you location-specific results.

“People are getting more frustrated with the fact that these cell phones are getting smaller and smaller, but more and more function is getting crammed into them,” Mike McCue, founder and general manager of Tellme, said in an interview. “To try to get anything done — navigate through all these menus — it takes time. To try to do that while driving, walking, on the go, is very challenging.”

McCue said his team hopes to add sports scores, train schedules, voice dialing, text-message dictation and other functions to the service in the future.

Heh, well, I hope the bulk of us can walk and use our BlackBerry devices at the same time. It’s might be a bit harder than chewing gum, but not that hard…right?

The compatible models listed on Tellme’s site: The 8100, 8800, 8820, 8830, and 8310. No word on the availability on other Curve and Pearl models.
