Keep track of how many text messages you send and receive

Posted by Joe on March 25, 2009

Text messaging is a tricky subject these days. Carriers have boosted prices significantly over the past few years. This, of course, is in an attempt to get more people on text messaging bundles. These might appear to cost less per text message, but only provide optimal value if you use every last one. While unlimited text messaging users might not have much use for this application, the rest of us on limited plans — or worse, a la carte — will benefit greatly from SMSCounter. It tracks your monthly text messages, which can serve a number of purposes.

For those of you on a limited text messaging plan, the application will log the number of text messages you send and receive. This way you know when you’re approaching your limit and can avoid going over. It’s all automatically logged every time you send or receive an SMS.

For those with the straight a la carte text messaging, you have the option of entering in your carrier’s price per message. This way you’ll know what to expect on your bill at the end of the month. Setting a limit can also help keep your SMS costs in check — and can also indicate if you would be better served with a texting bundle.

Why would you need to track how many text messages you send and receive? It’s always good to have your own records, as cell phone companies can goof and not realize it until you point it out. This application could be a handy tool in bill disputes.

You can get SMSCounter at the BBGeeks Store for $4.95. I’d recommend, as always, going with the free trial to make sure everything works right before purchasing.
