Posted by Cooper on May 14, 2008

With all the talk about the recent announcement of the 9000 series BlackBerry by RIM at this years Wireless Enterprise Symposium, some other great announcements are seemingly going unnoticed. It is for this reason that I would like to share with you readers one of the announcements that I found particularly interesting.

iTookThisOnMyPhone announced today, the release of version 2.0 of its’ popular mobile photo/video sharing application for the BlackBerry.

This is noteworthy because the initial incarnation of the application was such a success that I was anxious to see what new features have been added this go round.

For those of you who are not familiar with the iTookThisOnMyPhone application, here is a quick rundown. iTookThisOnMyPhone is designed specifically for the BlackBerry smartphone models that feature a camera. The application allows the BlackBerry user to snap photos or video from any location they like on their device and then upload them to a dedicated web page that in turn can be shared with friends. The real functionality of the application is that it automatically sends any photos or video you take right to the web. You the BlackBerry user do not have to do anything other than point and click.

All of the images that you take using your BlackBerry are stored in one central location and you have the ability to manage these photos and videos either online or via your BlackBerry.

Sharing your Photos with friends

Using iTookThisOnMyPhone, you can manage your personal web page and decide who gets access to your imagery. You can keep this area as secure as you like, with options to keep it private, allow friends access or open up your gallery to the world wide web. No matter what level of security you set, you always have the option of modifying these settings at any time.

Once you have set up your photo or video album online, you can email actual photos or just links to your friends and family or distribute them to various social networking sites.

Whatever your preferences, you can share as little or as much of your gallery as you like with those close to you.

Version 2.0 feature updates

  • Updated UI: Version 2.0 of the iTookThisOnMyPhone application has a newly upgraded graphical interface. The new look and feel provides a better user experience and a more intuitive navigation style. The first edition of the application worked smoothly and this is all just icing on the cake.

  • Geo-Tagging: This is awesome! you now have the ability to Geo-Tag each of your images so that the folks who you are sharing with can actually pop up a mapping solution and see exactly where your photos and video were taken.

  • BlackBerry Control: In Version 2.0 of the iTookThisOnMyPhone application users can now create, select and send photos and video to selected albums right from their BlackBerry.

  • Photo Review Queue: Now instead of having to browse images online and delete ones that you don’t want in your albums, you can do all of this right from the BlackBerry. Prior to uploading your imagery to your personal web page, simply de-select any images you do not wish to upload.
  • Installing the iTookThisOnMyPhone software on your BlackBerry

Installing the iTookThisOnMyPhone application is quick and easy. Simply head on over to www.iTookThisOnMyPhone.com and sign up for a FREE account. The next step is to download the application files to your BlackBerry and follow the setup instructions provided.
