To answer the question in the headline, a lot. Exactly how much, though, I’ve never bothered to calculate. Not just out of laziness, but also out of not really wanting to know. There’s this fear that the number is going to be a bit too high, and who wants to find out they spend too much time on their BlackBerry? In case you’re curious, there’s a new app called I Love BlackBerry which logs the time you spend on your favorite device. Now you can be sure that you spend too much time tapping away at your keys.
The application is pretty straight forward. It records the “active time” you’re on your Berry. So that 45 minutes to spent replying to emails? All recorded. It also breaks the time down into work hours and nights & weekends (both user-set times). So not only can you see how much time you spend on the Berry, you can also see how much of your own time you spend. The application also gives you the ability to see daily and monthly breakdowns.
The developer, EarlySail, promises a social element in a future release so that you can compare your usage to friends. Does this mean we can have an official BlackBerry Addict certification? Spend X minutes per month on your Berry, and you’re officially an addict. Surely, if people are sharing times then there will be a leaderboard of some sort. I think it would be pretty neat to compare my usage levels to that of others.
This is a totally free download. You can point your BlackBerry browser to http://download.earlysail.com/i_love_blackberry/ota/iloveblackberry.jad to download OTA, you can send an email to yourself with the download address, or you can download it to your PC. Feel free to leave your daily, weekly, and monthly times in the comments.

Ill be trying this app, i dont know if i want to know, i spend way to much time tapping on my tiny keyboard.
They’ve got me forecasted for 40 hours of usage a month. Me, I’m thinking that I can hit that in a week without trying. Whatcha think?
