I ran into an interesting application over at CrackBerry yesterday. It’s called TyperSpeed and, well, it does what you might expect it to do: measure your BlackBerry typing speed. I know plenty of people who pride themselves on their ability to hammer out messages with their thumbs, and this gives them a way to measure their pride. TyperSpeed lets you know how many characters you typed, the time it took to compose the message, and the most important part, how fast you typed, in words per minute.
From the description of the product, which made me chuckle a bit:
Through this you can see if you type faster on a PC-Keyboard or on your mobile device since the application uses the same calculation as other wpm-calculators.
Do you know anyone who comes even close to typing as fast on a BlackBerry as on a PC? Even those who don’t type fast on a PC still have the advantage of all 10 fingers to compose a message, rather than the two designated for BlackBerry use.
Just to give the application some spice, the creators have added a Top 3 list, so you can see if your speed is improving while you use the application. I haven’t run the application yet, but once I do I’ll post my speed. Perhaps we can get a BBGeeks contest going with this?
If you’re interested, you can get TyperSpeed at the BBGeeks Store for $2.95.
