Google Maps has always been one of our favorite applications for the BlackBerry. It’s comprehensive, it’s fairly accurate, and it’s free. And it just got better. They’ve added features that provide public transportation information, adding value for urban dwellers who have less of a need for the application’s driving directions feature. You can check out a list of included cities here, but I’ll provide a spoiler by saying there is no New York City on that list.
Google Maps Mobile allows you to check train times as well as routes, so you know when you can leave, and where you’re going. This version also brings faster searches for BlackBerry, which should make everyone a bit happier. Businesses also receive star ratings, letting you know the best places to shop. And thanks to the My Location feature, you’ll have the ability to rate businesses while you’re still in the building.
Google was nice enough to provide a walk-through video:
You can nab it at google.com/gmm from your desktop or OTA.
