Unfortunately, the products themselves aren’t free. But the application is. Alltel is now offering its BlackBerry customers a free shopping application, using the new Digby service. This will provide access to stores like Barnes & Nobile, Best Buy, Godiva Chocolatier (hint hint, gentlemen), Vermont Teddy Bears, Fossil, and Wine.com, among many others. The best part about this service is that it’s one integrated storefront, so you can combine purchases from the retailers into one order.
Digby, however, is not restricted only to Alltel subscribers. According to the mobile commerce provider that created the service, it can be downloaded for free by anyone with a BlackBerry smartphone. The download is available on the Digby Web site.
So let’s get moving on this! There are still 12 days until Christmas (though we’re at the end of Hanukkah), which means that you surely haven’t done any of your holiday shopping yet. At least we haven’t. We’re sure plenty of people are in the same situation.
Oh, and the service will integrate with your BlackBerry calendar and will remind you of special events. We take that to be sales and important dates, like, oh, say, the last day to order and have it delivered by Christmas Eve.
