If there’s one thing we love here at BBGeeks it’s a shiny new BlackBerry application. There’s just something about playing with new software that’s just so satisfying. Today we’ll talk about Evernote. As the name suggests it’s a note-taking system, though it runs many multimedia functions. It essentially acts as an archive, allowing you to upload text and voice notes, images, even Twitter messages. Best of all you can use Evernote across many platforms. Since everything is stored online, you can access your notes from anywhere you can access Evernote.
Check out Evernote’s CEO giving a quick pitch on the software:
This does seem like the perfect application for your BlackBerry. When you come by something you need to store, no matter where you are, you can upload it to your Evernote account (as long as you have a data connection available). You can do so many cool things with it, too, like clipping and taking screenshots of Web pages, scanning business cards and receipts, and emailing yourself notes.
You can get the Evernote desktop app for Mac (requires OS X 10.5 – Leopard) or Windows (XP or Vista). You can then get it on your BlackBerry from that link, or you can find it in BlackBerry App World. Unfortunately, this is currently only available for devices with OS 4.6 or higher (Bold, Curve 8900, Storm). There are two versions of Evernote: free and premium. You can see the differences here. Premium costs $5 per month or $45 per year, and provides 500 MB of storage (vs. 40 MB on the free version), among other upgrades.
