Deals on apps reviewed at BBGeeks.com

We present a ton of apps here on BBGeeks, with the hope that a number of readers will find them useful. Clearly not every app is for everyone — otherwise we’d run out of memory pretty quickly. But for the most part we try to cover apps that would help at least some subsection of our readers. From time to time, too, these apps go on sale. We might have looked at an app months ago, and you might have thought it cost more than you were willing to pay at the time. But then, without warning, the app comes up at a discount. Today we’ll look at some of the apps we’ve covered that are now selling at discounted prices.

MemoryUp

We covered MemoryUP in our guide to optimizing your BlackBerry’s memory. It does exactly that, optimize your memory usage, and it does it well. This not only makes a little extra room for apps, but it can also use that extra space to make your BlackBerry run faster.

At the time the app cost $16.99, which I probably wouldn’t pay. That goes especially because it’s a one-year subscription. But now the price has been reduced to $8.99. If that’s a bit more palatable, you can get MemoryUp at the BBGeeks Store.

AppLock

It wasn’t but a couple of weeks ago that we covered AppLock, an application that allows you to lock only certain parts of your BlackBerry. This can make securing your device a bit easier, since you don’t have to enter a password every time you unlock it. Instead you can just require a password for selected apps and messages from certain contacts. It also comes with an auto-lock feature, so you can keep your device locked when the backlight goes out.

When we covered this one it cost $2.99. Now you can get AppLock for just 99 cents through August 25.

Calendar Pro

Remember when we posted a huge walkthrough of SBSH Calendar Pro? We gave away 15 copies, which must have disappointed everyone who had to pay $15 for the app. SBSH is running a sale now, though. You can get SBSH Calendar Pro for $5.99 from now through August 25. Make sure to go back and read through the review of this one, because if you like it now is the time to grab it. Who wants to pay $15 for an app that’s available for $6?

ColorID

With an LED that can blink many different colors, why settle for just red and green? With apps like BerryBuzz and ColorID, you can make changes to how your LED functions. You can have it blink different colors, or even a series of colors, for different types of messages. If you want to assign a color or pattern to a specific contact, you can do that too.

It’s regularly $5.99, but for the rest of today you can get ColorID for $2.99.

Leave It On

Want to change the way your backlight works depending on the application? For instance, you can make sure your backlight stays on while you’re in Google Maps, but you can have it time out faster in other applications. You can also choose to leave the backlight on when connected to a charger.

Originally $5.99, you can get Leave It On for $3.99 through the 25th.
