I love when I email with someone new and they have all of their contact information right in the email signature. Now I know all sorts of ways to contact him, and can easily store each method in my BlackBerry. The only pain is actually entering in all the information — even more of a pain because it often means going back and forth between the email and address book. In May we looked at two applications that add contact information automatically: Anagram and Gwabbit. At the time I liked Gwabbit more because it automatically found contact information and added it, while Anagram made you highlight the information before adding it. Anagram has recently changed, though, and is now dubbed Copy2Contact. Let’s check out what it offers now.
Copy2Contact knows its competitor, so it has a comparison chart with Gwabbit. The Xs on Gwabbit’s side look a bit intimidating, though it is true that Copy2Contact has more features — that is, it can add information from more places, like SMS, directory assistance, and Web results. It can also add contact information without a carrier signal, which Gwabbit requires. Again, though, Gwabbit adds information automatically from your emails, whereas you have to highlight the desired information with Copy2Contact. (Though, really, it’s not that big a pain.) Copy2Contact also allows you to create calendar appointments, a huge and perhaps underrated aspect of the application.
Here’s a video demo of the application:
The biggest downside of Copy2Contact is that they are now charging a yearly subscription fee. That was my biggest complaint about Gwabbit. It costs $9.95 per year, which seems reasonable, though since Anagram used to be free it seems like a lot more. You can get a free trial, though, by going to get Copy2Contact at the BBGeeks Store. It works on all BlackBerry models OS 4.2 and above.
Hopefully, it’s only a matter of time before RIM includes this feature natively.

no sir. too expensive.
You want RIM to include this feature natively and put two companies out of business?
Why not? Many blackberry apps should just be standard features. Like this and berrybuzz should be built into the OS, not 3rd party app based.
