Announcing the MobiHand/BBGeeks App Store

Posted by Joe on June 3, 2009

I’ve been hoping for something like this for a long time, and finally we have it. Today we’re announcing an on-device way for you to browse and buy apps from the BBGeeks Store. It is the BBGeeks Edition of the MobiHand App Store. It acts just like BlackBerry App World, except it has all the great applications you find in MobiHand’s store. You can check the link above to see the features and benefits of the app store. After the jump we’ll hit on some more talking points. Just to make sure it gets in on the main page, you can download the app store at http://store.bbgeeks.com/appstore from your BlackBerry browser.

Need a list of reasons why you should get the app store?

  • Deal-of-the-Day: Exclusive offer of a new top-selling app every day for 50% off
  • Specials: Loads of discounted apps and bundles can be found daily
  • Themes, themes, and more themes: we offer thousands of themes (App World doesn’t carry themes)
  • Over 5,000 Apps which can be browsed by category, top free, top paid, and new
  • Great everyday prices: app are priced as low as $0.99 versus App World minimum price of $2.99
  • Fast pay with credit card — eliminates the need for a Paypal account (we will be adding Paypal mobile soon)
  • Dedicated customer service – to ensure complete customer satisfaction
  • Automatic version-tracking – instant update for every app on the user phone
  • Superior performance (screen loads and user interface)

In addition to that, from today through June 14th all applications are 20 percent off. Just enter the coupon code APPSTORE when making your purchase. That’s a nice way to kick off the new app store.

I honestly love the MobiHand store…use it all the time when I need a simple app or a new theme. Having it available right on my BlackBerry makes it a ton easier. For instance, we’ll have a new theme review up later today. You can get those themes right from your device, rather than getting it from the desktop store and having it sent to your device.

Again, you can get the BBGeeks App Store at http://store.bbgeeks.com/appstore. Let us know if you download it!

Seems silly to install an app to install other apps when a browser based storefront is just as useful. What am I missing?

Doesn’t work on my 8830
