Access your Yahoo! fantasy teams from your BlackBerry

Fantasy sports is a crazy, crazy industry. People get all sorts of obsessed over their fake teams. Go to any bookstore and you’ll see dozens of magazines dedicated to the topic. There are hundreds of online sites on how to better your fantasy team and win your league. We’re right in the middle of baseball season right now, and the mother of all fantasy sports leagues, the NFL, is right around the bend. With an assist from BerryReview, we now learn that Yahoo! has released a fantasy sports app. Details after the jump.

From the Y! Fan page, where you will supposedly be able to download this eventually. For now, access is limited to BlackBerry App World.

* Add your teams once and the information is stored on the device for future ease-of-use
* Access your league’s standings to see how your team is faring
* View and post messages to the league messageboard
* View your league’s weekly scoreboard for head-to-head leagues
* View recent transactions for your league to find the best waiver wire prospects
* Change your team’s lineup and get quick access to live boxscores, previews and recaps
* View your team’s stats (updated in real time if you have Yahoo! StatTracker)
* View player notes for your team
* View your team’s or other team’s schedule for head-to-head leagues
* Read the latest headlines or fantasy news
* Access sport specific information including live scores, standings, and injury reports

The best feature of them all is the ability to set your lineup on the fly. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been out only to realize I had left Justin Morneau on the bench. This helps solve that issue, plus plenty more. It in essence gives you access to everything you can do on the desktop version.

The app is going for $3.99 for now, but it will be well worth it for heavy fantasy players. It’s good for devices with OS 4.2.1 and up, so basically everyone. The only downside, other than it only being available on App World at the moment, is that it takes up 1.56MB of device memory. Might want to start clearing some apps now (unless you have one of the newer models with considerably more device memory).

Ok, I downloaded it. When trying to add my team, I get a “Bad DNS Address” error. Any ideas how to fix this, if possible?

I wonder if they are working on an iPhone version….and for soccer too?
