Access Delicious bookmarks with your BlackBerry

Posted by Joe on July 14, 2009

One of the greatest developments of the Web — and I don’t think this is too hyperbolic — is the ability to share reading material with friends and strangers. There’s just so much to read out there, and it’s difficult to navigate the good stuff without filters. One such filtering system is social bookmarking. One of the foremost services in this realm is Delicious. To date we haven’t had a major BlackBerry app to use this service, but that’s all changed. Props to BerryReview for the find. The app is called Genicious, and we’ll have the details after the jump.

Once you download and install the app, you’ll be able to perform most Delicious functions. This includes:

  • Saving new bookmarks
  • Browsing bookmarks, by popular and recent
  • Clicking through tags to find relevant articles
  • Viewing, editing, and deleting your bookmark queue
  • Posting new bookmarks right from the browser
  • Copying bookmark URLs (for pasting in emails)

One feature I’d like to see is the ability to check others’ feeds. I haven’t had a chance to test this, so it might be in there, but it’s one of my favorite aspects of Delicious, because it’s yet another way to filter information.

You can check out the Genicious Web page, or just download Genicious OTA.
