The Facebook “is” lives on in the BlackBerry app

Many Facebook users were overjoyed this morning to see that Facebook had finally relented and made the “is” in the status updates optional. Now you can be any preposition or verb you’d like!
One small snag though for those of us using the incredibly handy Facebook BlackBerry App… we still are forced to use the “is” at the time of this posting.

Whether or not RIM will update their application remains to be seen. And as trivial as it sounds, considering that at this moment 79,000+ daily active Facebook users have the BlackBerry app installed and 181,000+ Facebook users joined the petition to have the “is” removed from status messages, to the die hard Facebook set/long time users, this kind of puts a tiny bit of defeat in a small victory.
