Removing the Facebook Application from your BlackBerry

Posted by Cooper on November 20, 2007 | 177 comments | Filed under : BlackBerry and Facebook

Ever since the release of the Facebook application for BlackBerry, there have been countless posts made online about both its benefits and its shortcomings.

One specific complaint is the fact that this application seems to be draining the battery life of some early adopters.

While I cannot speak for anyone else, I can attest to the fact that the Facebook application functioned perfectly on my 8800. I have experienced none of the errors or glitches reported widely across the Web.

For those of you who have, unfortunately, been exposed to a less than satisfying user experience while installing and attempting to integrate the Facebook application into your mobile lifestyle, I am here to help you get rid of it.

Simply follow the instructions below and you will be back on the path to longer battery life.

Just Take it Away Already!

To remove the Facebook application from your BlackBerry, or any other application for that matter, involves only a few easy steps. I have laid out this process using screenshots taken directly from my 8800 during the deletion process.

Step 1:

Locate the applications icon on your BlackBerry homescreen and click on it once.

Step 2:

Locate the Options icon from the list of available applications presented to you. Click on this icon once.

Step 3:

Select Advanced Options from the list and click on it once.

Step 4:

Under the Advanced Options, you will see the Applications heading. Highlight this heading and click it once.

Step 5:

Scroll down the list of applications installed on your BlackBerry until Facebook is highlighted.

Press the menu button on your BlackBerry (located between the call/dial button and the trackball on the 8800). This will bring up the properties/permissions dialog box.

Step 6:

scroll down until you have highlighted the word Delete and click on it once to uninstall the Facebook for BlackBerry application.

Step 7:

You will be prompted to delete [uninstall] at this point or cancel the operation.

That’s it, folks; uninstalling the Facebook application from your BlackBerry in a few simple steps.

I deleted FB, and it told me that the application would be deleted when my BB was restarted. I have shut the phone down and restarted it several times since, but FB is still there. Help!

Joe 2 Joe November 10, 2011 at 10:54 am

kriz, the only way to keep your FB contacts is to have the FB app installed. You can, however, export your contacts while you have FB installed and then re-import them after you delete it. I believe that works. Can anyone attest otherwise?

Hi Guys, I really need your help!

I have updated to the latest version of Facebook and now the icon has disappeared and when I go to App World it says that it is uninstalled and it doesn’t give me the option to reinstall it!

I want facebook back as I don’t have a computer and this is the only way I can access it.

Thank you very much!

I have followed your steps to uninstall Facebook from my BB and now it doesn’t show up in the application list when I check it in settings/advanced options. However, it still shows up under applications on my main menu (a grayed-out icon when I “show all”) and is still sharing these inane and useless updates (Facebook User: Yay!) on my BB email. Please help. Thanks!

I had facebook on my BB 9780 when I bought it, and i put it in my ‘Favourites’ menu, but something went wrong and it’s entirely removed from the BB. When I downloaded it from the app world, it didn’t turn up in the main menu.. How is this possible?

18 Adam May 23, 2011 at 4:42 pm

SO I removed FB from my Blackberry Pearl I looked around my FB settings some and I still get FB sending things to my phone. Mostly when people comment on things I’ve commented on via my computer.

19 Dee April 27, 2011 at 11:20 pm

Thank you soooooo much. FB on Blackberry does not mix well. I’m truly grateful for your simple instructions to finally rid this nuisance from my cell.

20 Leslie April 11, 2011 at 1:52 pm

Thank you….that was so easy and I appreciate the help so much. It was making me nuts. It accidentally loaded my ex-husband’s FB page and made my new husband nuts too. lol
thank you.

21 Laura April 5, 2011 at 4:45 pm

thanks cooper! im going to try it and if it doesnt work ill be back! lol

Cooper 22 Cooper March 18, 2011 at 9:48 am

@Laura Go into your actual FB settings on your computer and ensure that your BlackBerry is not associated with your account in any way. Look deep into each setting page as FB changes the options too often to keep track of.

23 Laura March 16, 2011 at 1:58 am

ok so i just got a brand new blackberry tour. i made the mistake of loging into facebook ONCE and now my calander AND my contacts are sync’d with fb. I went into service book and deleted everything that said facebook, deleted the actual app off the phone and took the battery out. nothing helps.

i dont want my contacts sync’d and i dont want my calender showing stupid facebook events.

PLEASE HELP ME!!

Cooper 24 Cooper March 4, 2011 at 9:49 am

@Caitlin Check to see if it is actually installed or not by looking in your applications list.

The Facebook app is pushed to your device by your carrier and there is nothing you can do about that. If you have deleted the app then chances are what you are seeing is just the launch icon to install it – go ahead and hide that icon so it doesn’t bother you anymore.

25 Caitlin March 3, 2011 at 11:58 am

Hi!
I did exactly this, and facebook is STILL on my BB??
I shut my phone off, turned it on – still there.
I shut my phone off, took the battery out, turned it on – stillllll there?

why? i just want to get rid of it!

and MSN messenger as well, some of the apps i deleted dissapeared but MSN, FB and YellowPages are still there :(

Does anyone know why? Or how I can really get rid of these things?

Cooper 26 Cooper February 24, 2011 at 11:10 am

@Nola Does it show up in your applications list? If yes then delete it from there and reinstall.

27 Nola February 24, 2011 at 6:55 am

I just bought a used blackberry bold tonight, and downloaded the facebook app, it says the download was successful but i can not find it anywhere on my phone to save the life of me. I’ve looked everywhere, and even tried the show all button, but still nothing, can someone please help me?!
any help is greatly appreciated.
thank you so much in advance!

Cooper 28 Cooper February 23, 2011 at 10:05 am

@samantha You can redownload AppWorld here http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/appworld/

or try out the BBGeeks AppStore here: http://store.bbgeeks.com/appstore

29 Samantha Gourlay February 22, 2011 at 3:10 pm

My dad accidently deleted the App downloader thing from my BlackBerry Torch. How do i get it back?

Cooper 30 Cooper February 15, 2011 at 10:32 am

@Robert no their photos will not appear unless you have a FB account associated with that device

31 Robert February 15, 2011 at 8:36 am

I dont have a facebook account, will my contacts facebook profile pictures still appear when they call? I dont have the application installed on my phone either.

Cooper 32 Cooper February 8, 2011 at 12:45 pm

@Elly You need to use menu > show all if you want to unhide any hidden icons.

33 Elly February 7, 2011 at 6:55 am

Hi, I “hid” the facebook application on my homescreen on facebook. i tryed redownloading it to get it back and it says that i still have it. but cannot find it on the home screen. how do i get it back? thanku

Cooper 34 Cooper January 27, 2011 at 9:52 am

@HELP Go to your downloads folder and press menu – show all

Chances are it is just hidden. Look in all folders using the same command.

If you still can’t find the icon go into your applications list and delete it from there. Then download again from http://blackberry.com/facebook

Cooper 35 Cooper January 27, 2011 at 9:20 am

@stacey Try replying to the messages that are sticking then deleting them again. Or you could try double clicking on the messages (some people have said that worked for them).

If none of those work try downgrading facebook to an older version http://www.theiexplorers.com/bb/Facebook/FB49.jad

36 Stacey January 27, 2011 at 8:42 am

I deleted fb for bb off my torch because i had problems uploading pics straight to fb so I thought by deleting it and reinstalling it, it may work! But now I cant seem to reinstall fb to my torch. Theres no download option in the blackberry app world for me to re install it :(

Cooper 40 Cooper January 19, 2011 at 11:21 am

@Lauren They are not deleted – just missing for now. Your BlackBerry does not know where to pull the information from since it was tied to FB which is now deleted.

Check out this comment – follow the tips and you should have all your contacts back:

I deleted the fbook app from my curve and it took all of my contacts… How do I retrieve them?

Cooper 46 Cooper December 16, 2010 at 2:45 pm

@Melissa You need to delete a record from your device:

options – advanced – service book – find FACEBOOK [CICAL] entry and menu – delete.

47 Melisa December 14, 2010 at 10:14 pm

I followed your steps and FB went away. Unfortunately, it took with it all of my calendar appointments. PLEASE help me get them back!

@Ben Nope – Facebook is not fundamental to anything – delete it at will.

I successfully remove Facebook by deleting the application
Options-Advanced Options-Applications-facebook-delete
-and-
Options > Advanced > Service Book > FACEBOOK > Menu Key (BB logo) > Delete
mentioned above
then checked everything was removed from Facebook and it appears to be gone from the BB.

thanks so much, facebook on my crackberry is such a drainer!!!, i hope it will also let my crackberry run faster as well!!!

66 Emma July 30, 2010 at 8:35 am

Thank you so much this was so usefull. For everyone who has a curve and can’t firgure it out the options isn’t under applications for us you go to options in the main bb menu and then follow the rest of the instructions from that point as above and that works to remove the app.

Cooper 67 Cooper July 12, 2010 at 9:43 am

@TDO To change your default calendar, go into your blackberrys options, then into Advanced Options then Default Services. There you can change your default calendar.

As far as restoring all of the missing items, unless you have a backup already saved somewhere you are pretty much out of luck.

68 TDO July 11, 2010 at 12:34 pm

I uninstalled FB from my BB Curve and now ALL my calendar entries are GONE!!! I’m freaking out cuz I live out of my calendar. Any ideas? I read all the above entries and I tried all of themn and still can’t get my calendar back :( Any help would b greatly appreciated.

Kicking myself for not backing up my BB!!!

69 Beedge June 24, 2010 at 3:32 pm

It might make a difference if you log out of the Facebook app before you try to uninstall it.

In the app, I looked under settings or options…can’t remember specifically now…and there was a sort of text link near the top of the screen that said Log Out.

Logging out stops the notifications. And like I said, might help the uninstall stick better.

@springhill With the new changes in Facebook settings I would go and dig into it on their site. Chances are there is still a setting in your profile that is tied to your BlackBerry.

73 springhill June 8, 2010 at 5:03 am

I followed procedure but it hasnt deleted facebook .. its removed it from applications but im still recieving notifications? so therefore application is still running.

74 Vicki June 7, 2010 at 1:26 pm

Hi, I’ve read through all your helpful hints, thanks so much for this site! I successfully removed Facebook from my BlackBerry. I then deleted my Facebook account. However, this made everything on my calendar disappear!! Is there any way to get it back? I’m still within the two weeks before the Facebook account is permanently deleted so I have a few days if I need to reopen that account to get my info back. Thanks!

Intructions for the italians bb owners:

I followed your directions and removed facebook from my Blackberry. Thanks!! It was making me crazy.

77 Ruggerducky May 13, 2010 at 9:29 am

I have deleted it from the service book, tried every option possible, but it is still holding “Facebook (archived)” on my Bold. I refuse to wipe my phone just to get rid of this malware, and just hiding it doesn’t free up my memory. Any suggestions on getting rid of the archive? I’ve long since turned off any mobile information on my FB account (which is being canceled at the end of the month because of their shitty privacy updates)

78 Davor May 9, 2010 at 1:48 am

Thanks, Cooper, it worked perfectly on my slovenian BlackBerry – exactly like you described.

Cooper 79 Cooper April 26, 2010 at 11:23 am

Cooper 80 Cooper April 26, 2010 at 11:21 am

@jya Try using menu > show all to ensure that the icon is not hidden. Also check your downloads folder to see if it got tucked away there.

I am trying to get the facebook app BACK, have downloaded again since updating my software and nothing. says its installed but no app on screen. tried deleting and reinstalling, nothing, any suggestions?

82 Becca April 24, 2010 at 3:41 am

I have a blackberry curve 8300 and I deleted and reinstalled facebook. Since this has happened my blackberry calendar has been updated with all the events on facebook. How do you make this go away? I just want my normal calendar back with just my appointments I put in it. I don’t need to know what’s going on in the facebook world daily on my personal calendar!!!

Cooper 83 Cooper April 23, 2010 at 7:58 am

@donna If you can not delete the app you can go in and disconnect your facebook account from your BlackBerry using their profile options.

Check all settings and options available in your Facebook profile and turn off any related to mobile notifications or BlackBerry specifically.

That should stop the app from updating – The app itself will keep getting pushed to your device so deleting it totally is not necessarily an option as it will get pushed again and again.

It is best to disconnect it and hide the icon.

hope that helps.

84 Donna April 22, 2010 at 4:21 pm

I just tried deleting facebook, and had no success doing it. At step 6 when i press facebook it doesn’t give the option of delete. It only has two options…switch application and close. I am so frustrated with this cause my battery doesn’t last the day. Can anyone tell me what to do here???

Cooper 85 Cooper April 21, 2010 at 9:09 am

@Jared Try deleting that message from within FB itself. Then do a battery pull to see if it updates.

86 Jared April 20, 2010 at 10:50 am

What was I thinking! I had emails forwarded to my blackberry and yes, that included facebook emails. I’ve noticed the countless posts about facebook. A single facebook email wont delete! the icon looks like a blue folder, different from any other. took the battery out, but no change. Help!

I hope someone can figure it out. Thank you

HOW DO I GET FACEBOOK TO REMOVE ALL MY BLACKBERRY’S UPLOADED PHONEBOOK DATA???

I AM FREAKING OUT!

My Blackberry accidentally uploaded my Phonebook when I first installed the Facebook for Blackberry Application. I was trying to cancel out of that screen to go back when I read what it wanted to do and was freaking out and instead it uploaded all my contacts. HOW DO I remove these? The regular Delete/Remove Friend Finder Data is not working in this case and even though I had denied and removed the app from the my profile the Blackberry Phonebook Data is still continuing to show up in my Friends Suggestions.

Much thanks.

Cooper 99 Cooper February 4, 2010 at 10:33 am

@Nix unfortunately I have no further insight as to how to fix this issue. Plain and simple Facebook sucks and they are messing things up for everybody =(

I will look for an alternate solution and post it here if I find anything new.

Cooper 100 Cooper February 4, 2010 at 10:00 am

@joenta Is the app actually installed and listed in the applications list or is it just the icon on your home screen? The icon will be pushed to your phone by your carrier and there is nothing to be done about that.

If the app itself is not installed then you can just hide the icon any time it pops back up.

101 joenta February 3, 2010 at 11:22 pm

after reboot app still there.
i have this with a app i got from app world.
i even tried removing it with blackberry manager

102 Nix February 3, 2010 at 1:10 am

Cooper!!!!!! Please help….I have the same problem as the last several people. Facebook deleted all my contacts…..all 350+ of them!!! I’ve done the steps you listed above and nothing works….and also cant figure out which item to “re-register” under “Host routing table.” I have an AT&T Blackberry Pearl 8100. Thank you!! You rock!

Cooper 103 Cooper February 1, 2010 at 12:05 pm

You can not delete it forever as it is pushed by your carrier with every phone update. Your best bet is to hide the icon.

I deleted the FB app from service books, but it still comes back. What can I do to delete it forever!!!!!

How can we get the old blackberry facebook back and not the new upgrade?

107 Allison January 21, 2010 at 9:36 pm

OH and i did what you said about disconnecting FB from and pulling the battery etc.. still NO contacts.. and of course, facebook still doesnt work!!!!

108 Allison January 21, 2010 at 9:32 pm

WEll, number one, I had the issue with deleting FB, and it took my contacts with it… TWICE.. and the whole reason I keep trying to delete the app is because ever since they came out with the upgrade, i dont get ANY updates! So i’ve deleted it and restored it several times, most recently today, when I lost my contact for the second time, that made me realize it was facebook that did it the first time. Iam just FED up with facebook not working, AND having no contact AGAIN!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am with sprint, its a bb curve!

Cooper 109 Cooper January 14, 2010 at 4:11 pm

@Natty what provider do you use? I will track down a specific tutorial on how to locate/update your service books for you.

110 Natty January 14, 2010 at 3:12 pm

Hi Cooper, I have the same problem that CynMarie does! I deleted FB and it took all my emails (Im on an enterprise account), contacts, and pictures. I dont have my contacts, emails or photos on my Desktop Manager, do you know if there is a way to recover them? I’ve pulled the battery and that didnt work, and I followed your link to the service books instructions, but Im a little confused on how to do it. Any help would be great!!

Thanks!

111 JACINA LOVE January 14, 2010 at 10:42 am

THANKS THIS REALLY HELPED AND IT WORKED.

Cooper 112 Cooper January 7, 2010 at 10:13 am

@CynMarie

Try this:

1. completely disassociate your BlackBerry from your facebook account – you will have to adjust settings in your facebook account to do this.

2. Do a battery pull on your device while it is still on and replace it after 30 seconds. Are your contacts back?

3. Log into your BIS account and resend your service books.
http://www.bbgeeks.com/quick-tips/what-is-a-service-book-what-is-a-host-routing-table-881448/

That should do the trick and bring your contacts back.

113 CynMarie January 6, 2010 at 11:17 pm

I installed Facebook on my BB and it synced all my contacts. I needed to free up memory later so decided to delete FB. Now all my contacts are gone off my phone save the ones that were saved to my SIM. I just lost any new numbers and emails I had.

114 Nousha January 5, 2010 at 12:22 pm

Amaziiing… thank u:)!

Cooper 115 Cooper January 5, 2010 at 10:31 am

@Bear – I feel your pain – I would suggest double checking that you have changed all of your notification options.

1. Your settings on your Facebook account on the “real” computer. You get at them through “notifications,” which is on a drop-down near the upper right corner. Note that some of the sections of email notifications have a “more” link, which will reveal yet MORE radio-buttons that you have to click to “no.”

2. Your settings on your Facebook app on your BB. Run FB, go to the options, and set them to “no” everywhere.

3. Your settings once you’ve installed a new FB app on your BB. If you upgrade from FB 1.5 to 1.6 (like everyone is doing these days!) then some of the settings in 1. and 2. above might disappear. So, after an upgrade, START OVER.

4. If that does not work you can set up a filter on your email so that all messages from FB are blocked and never delivered to your inbox.

Good Luck!

116 Holly January 4, 2010 at 10:11 pm

Thanks! So far the easiest thing I’ve learned about this phone! And I’ve had it for almost 2 years. LOL

117 Bear January 4, 2010 at 2:02 pm

So, I made the mistake of downloading the Facebook App for my Blackberry. Since then, I’ve gotten utterly bombarded with notifications. I’ve gone into Facebook itself, removed my mobile # from my profile, told facebook it is not allowed to contact me on my mobile, gone into my phone, deleted the app, deleted both references to the app in my Service Book, removed the battery, replaced the battery and STILL GET FRICKING NOTIFICATIONS!

How the heck do I stop facebook from flooding my phone? Please, for the sake of my sanity, HELP!

Thank you so much for taking the time to post these steps!!! I’m returning a corporate owned device; and I would have been greatly embarrassed to return it with open access to my Facebook account.

122 Kristen October 28, 2009 at 8:23 am

Thank you! That worked beautifully!

123 Jeff October 26, 2009 at 1:32 pm

I have an 8310 Curve and I deleted the Facebook Application but I cannot delete the Facebook Calendar from the Calendar. Everything is defaulting to Facebook but when I go into Calendar Options, I cannot delete Facebook and just leave my two e-mail addresses. Can anyone help with this?

126 John September 30, 2009 at 8:57 pm

Ive tried… The thang is its not even showing up in the apps! The only thang on my phone I can find facebook is in the icon list and then also holding alt and pressing lglg to being up the event log and then going to options one says BBLogger[Facebook] and the others just say Facebook. Ive unchecked them and it still shows up.

Cooper 127 Cooper September 30, 2009 at 9:36 am

Not sure what to say — if you followed the instruction in the post the app should be gone. Try pulling the battery, replacing, deleting the app if it is still visible then pull the battery again immediately after reboot.

When you are back up and running hopefully it is gone for good. Not much else I can tell you with regards to removing the app sorry =(

128 John September 29, 2009 at 12:47 pm

No I’m not getting any updates cause I have signed off the facebook app. I contacted AT&T and theres nothing they can do about it. I downloaded it to test it out to see how it was cause people I know have it and they liked it. I myself didn’t and I dont have a media package and once I had down loaded it it makes my BB freeze and run slow. Ive tired everything to get if off my phone. When I had gotten the phone it didn’t come with it I put it on there myself.

Cooper 129 Cooper September 29, 2009 at 8:38 am

So you are still getting FB updates on your phone?

Many carriers push the FB icon to your phone as part of their service packages. If this is the case just hide the icon so you don’t see it.

130 John September 28, 2009 at 11:02 pm

Who knows how to delete the Facebook off your BB Curve that you downloaded? Ive done all the tricks…. 1.HARD rest… 2.Options > Advanced Options > Applications (but theres nothing about Facebook in there. and 3.Options …> Advanced Options > Service Book. (still nothing in there about Facebook) Does anyone know anything else I can do?

131 Eric September 25, 2009 at 10:47 am

Craziest behavior on by Pearl 8120! This has eaten up hours of my time. After seeing duplicate entries in my calendar (entries were on my default calendar and Facebook, I started removing all the Facebook entries. Then I removed Facebook application from the applications list, but the CICAL entry was still listed in the service books and the Calendar was STILL getting all messed up. Removed that CICAL record, but Facebook STILL showed up in my calendar! Used DM to clear the calendar DB (entries were under “Calendar ALL” not “Calendar”. Re-synced with Google, and all the calendar entries were added to the (‘non-existent’) Facebook calendar. Made sure that my Google Apps account was the default calendar (it was). Went back into DM and re-cleared the Calendar DB. Turned off the device, removed the battery, restarted the device, and IT’S STILL THERE. How can I have a calendar without a CICAL record in the service book for an application I removed??

132 Debbie September 18, 2009 at 4:46 pm

My Facebook has taken over my Blackberry Curve calendar and is infecting everything. I’ve changed the default calendar to my work one – which it used to be -, I’ve changed the facebook settings and deselected the calendar, I’ve turned the BB off, taken the battery out and done everything except hit it with a baseball bat. It seems to be possessed. I had the Sprint/Blackberry tech on the phone for 30 minutes today trying to help me fix it….with no success. Any suggestions – I suppose I will have to delete Facebook from the bb.

133 Tania September 15, 2009 at 3:37 pm

I followed the step by step directions, face book won’t delete from my blackberry pearl 8120. It’s driving me crazy.

146 ukcurve March 17, 2009 at 6:29 am

hi it worked perfectly on my 8900 curve (uk version) the app won’t let you press menu and delete so this way is the only way to get rid of it! cheers for the help because i hated that app, it seems poorly written which is probably why so many people have problems with it.

I have the BB curve x 1 week. I enjoy facebook but am having a hard time having the facbook emails deleted from my bb at the same time as my laptop. I am able to delete them right away from my BB but doesn’t seem to “connect” with my laptop. When i get home from work I have to go through and delete all my FB emails. No problem with regular emails being deleted at the same time from my BB only Face book. do you have a suggestion?

154 Sherry January 7, 2009 at 3:47 pm

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! The facebook notifications have been driving me crazy and I had no idea what to do since my Blackberry is fairly new and I’m still learning all of the ins and outs. I appreciate this!!

thankyou!!

Joe 157 Joe October 9, 2008 at 10:05 am

A.Green,

Go into Service Books under the Advanced Options menu. You should see something there that says Facebook. Delete it. That’ll get it good and gone.

It might show up later on your desktop (it did for me). I just hid the icon at that point, knowing the app was gone.

158 A.Green October 9, 2008 at 9:25 am

I went through all the steps provided to uninstall the facebook application via the phone(applications and service books) but its still there and seems to be working..what else should I do?

BBUser305: Have you pulled your battery?

160 BlackberryUser305 August 12, 2008 at 11:59 pm

I downloaded the Facebook application for Blackberry but found it annoying. I deleted it in “Applications” and–ever since then–my regular emails will not download to my Blackbery. Although i hear a bell/ringer signifying they’re being downloaded (i have a new email), i can’t see it! i have no idea where it’s downloading. Could deleting the blackberry facebook application have screwed something up in my regular blackberry? This isn’t a coincidence… help!

161 Jason July 30, 2008 at 1:38 pm

I was getting nowhere until I pulled the battery – bye bye Facebook!

Just kidding, I took out my battery and turned it back on and now my life is back to good.

167 Carla February 29, 2008 at 3:10 am

I tried removing the facebook application from my blackberry pearl according to your instructions, but I am still left with the annoying icon. I went to the link you posted, but pushing alt and shift at the same time just changes my ringer to vibrate or silent. Please help me, I’m going crazy with it on my phone.

You’ll find information about removing ANY unwanted icon, including the one for the Facebook app here: http://www.bbgeeks.com/blackberry-guides/two-blackberry-mysteries-solved-88107/ – hope it helps.

170 Zuleika December 28, 2007 at 8:20 pm

I am also inquiring abour removing the icon from the blackberry. I deleted, but I want the icon gone also, how do I go about doing that.

171 Cooper December 14, 2007 at 10:16 am

Hello Christy, Cooper here.

We actually have a post coming out on Monday morning which addresses the issue of removing unwanted icons from your BlackBerry display.

Please subscribe to our RSS feed or remember to check back on Monday morning for a post titled
“Two BlackBerry Mysteries, Solved”.

172 Christy December 13, 2007 at 1:06 pm

I deleted it from my applications but the freaking icon wont go away!! What should I do?

173 Ziyad December 11, 2007 at 2:01 pm

Looks like you first need to accept the terms and conditions and download Facebook – after you’ve downloaded, it should appear in the Applications list where you can nuke it.

174 captainron042 December 10, 2007 at 12:33 pm

I downloaded a few 3rd party java games using a popular batch file floating around the web which converts the files, then uploads them to your BB.
I’ve gotten tired of some of these games and want to delete them, but they do not appear under applications or even service books. The do not show up in the application loader on my PC either.

175 Em December 5, 2007 at 1:20 am

GO UNDER SETTINGS THEN ADVANCED OPTIONS AND THEN TO “SERVICE BOOKS”.

SCROLL TO FACEBOOK AND DELETE IT!!

VERY SATISFYING!

176 steve December 1, 2007 at 11:11 pm

I also can not find facebook in my applications menu (new blackberry pearl), and it is the first thing I had planned to delete.
I also HATE facebook!

177 Bunk November 28, 2007 at 10:42 pm

Facebook was pushed onto my 8300 (Curve) and it does not appear on the “Application List”. I tried using the desktop appication and Facebook does not appear there either.

HELP – I hate Facebook and want it off my device.Thanks.
