Facebook 1.7 headed soon to a BlackBerry near you

If it seems like a new version of the Facebook BlackBerry app came out not too long ago, you’re not mistaken. We saw version 1.6 hit the airwaves in June, but it looks like that won’t hold back version 1.7. Boy Genius Report puts us on the scent for the newest version, which should be released some time this month. It comes from this Polish page, though Google translate probably doesn’t do this much justice. Anyway, there are a few new features which you might find useful.

The screen shot looks pretty nice, so there’s probably nothing to worry about regarding interface changes. Like version 1.6, it looks a lot like the Facebook we’ve come to know and — love, hate, whatever.

Among the new features include the ability to filter the news feed. This helps keep the endless news feed a bit less clogged. So if you just want to see what your friends are up to, you can select only status updates, just like you’ve been able to do on the Web Facebook since, well, pretty much forever.

There’s also a new view profile options, plus the pages load faster. Obviously all plusses. BGR has the ambiguous “more” item as their last bullet point, so we can only take that to mean that there will be more upgrades once the new version hits airwaves.
