I use a clear plastic one cause I like to see how my BB looks like. It does scratch but that doesn't really bother me that much.

I had the Otterbox for my curve, and while it gives you mil-spec protection against the next nuclear war, I'm an office geek and didn't really need that much. Now with my Bold, I'm using the holster that came with it- I actually prefer it to many others. I also got a skin at UniqueSkins.com that protect it against surface scratches.

I'm a guy, so I don't have a purse, and I like the leather carrying pouch... I think it must have a magnet inside it that tells your BB its in the pouch, and automatically puts it in standby mode... it looks nice, and fits in my back pocket pretty easily... its no bigger or heavier than your average wallet when the BB is inside it.
This review claims it is expensive, but I got the one that is pictured, and it actually came packaged with my AT&T BB Curve 8310 for no extra charge.

I still haven't found a BB case I really like. The default pouch is good because it makes the phone easily accessible (I hate digging it out of my pocket), somewhat protected, reasonably well attached, and it has a magnet to put it in standby. What I'd really like to see is a case the also serves as a _minimal_ wallet. I've seen some that have a snap-close slot behind the phone but they're always too wide for a BB and/or don't have the standby magnet...or they're just too bulky. All I need is ID, a few cards, and a few bucks securely attached and I'm set. Of course, soon the BB will make all of those things obsolete anyway. ;)
