You have purchased yourself a fancy new BlackBerry, but despite the fact that it is skillfully designed, it still looks like everyone else. You have to do something to make the device yours. After a little bit of Google searching you find that there are quite a few ways to personalize your device. You can add a case around your device to give it some added drop/impact protection and perhaps a splash of color, but everyone has cases and there is a good chance you will bump into somebody who has purchased the identical protection at some point in your travels. Another option you have when it comes to customization is engraving. Engraving your BlackBerry, while it may seem like a great idea, only serves to make it harder to sell on eBay when you decide to upgrade to the latest and greatest.
One of the cooler (and non-destructive) methods of styling up your BlackBerry is to outfit it with a custom skin. These are really eye catching and truly serve to separate your BlackBerry device from the sea of “default” models you encounter on a regular basis. Check out some of our advertisers for awesome designs you can slap right onto your BlackBerry for a quick style update.
The final method for adding a little touch of “you” to your BlackBerry style (and the topic of this article) is by adding a charm to your device. Currently the Pearl is the only BlackBerry that allows for a charm to be attached. I mean you could probably get fancy and MacGuyver a BlackBerry charm onto your 8700 or 8800, but I would suggest sticking with custom skins for those models.
A quick Google search results in approximately a quarter million pages featuring the term “BlackBerry Charms”. There are quite a few options available to you as a BlackBerry owner when it comes to deciding what type of charm best describes you.
Join me now as I take you on a journey into the world of BlackBerry charms.
What is a BlackBerry charm?
A BlackBerry charm is exactly what you would imagine it to be. A small jewel, symbol or character that is fixed to your BlackBerry antenna, or some other hook or latch available on your device. They are essentially the same charms that young girls wear on their bracelletes. You know the ones, friendship hearts, musical notes, teddy bears etc.
Yes I know, grown women also wear charm bracelets, the difference being that theirs are usually made with gemstones and precious metals that cost an arm and a leg =)
Where do I find BlackBerry charms
There are BlackBerry charms widely available across the internet. Many of the websites that carry them will appear with a simple Google search. To shorten your search a little bit, why not check out the BlackBerry charms we have for sale in our BBGeeks Store.
HINT: BlackBerry charms is a specific term we are using here at BBGeeks, however, there is no difference between a BlackBerry charm and a regular cell phone charm.
For a few more options, here are some quality websites out there that allow you to purchase BlackBerry charms online:
- Accessory Geeks
- Cell Phone Accents
- eBay
- StrapYa World (very wacky selections here)
- ArtBeads (Just charms, no chains or lanyards)
How much do BlackBerry charms cost?
BlackBerry charms will carry a different price tag depending on where you shop and what style of charm you are purchasing. Most retailers will provide a discount on your order if you purchase more than one charm at a time. Unless you are searching out an exclusive design or a BlackBerry charm made out of precious metals, you shouldn’t have to spend any more than $6 – $10 on a BlackBerry charm. The Blue Swarovski pearl BlackBerry Charm is very stylish and is priced at only $8.
What kinds of BlackBerry charms are available?
If you can imagine it, it is available as a charm for your BlackBerry. These come in all shapes and sizes, ranging from cheap looking trinkets to very stylish gemstones and everything in between. In my search for quality BlackBerry charms, I have seen small silver bells, mini footballs, countless hearts, fake diamonds (and real), animals of all kinds, and even mini BlackBerry devices. During my searches I also managed to run into some strange, strange charms. Seriously, imagine having a mutant Kewpie doll hanging off of your BlackBerry?
Which type of BlackBerry charm is best for me?
I am more of a zany individual and I tend to gravitate to the more interesting and out there concepts. In my opinion, the best BlackBerry charm for you would be one that expresses you personality at a glance. Are you a party animal? why not go for the martini glass. Looking for a touch of class to add to your BlackBerry? Perhaps one of the beaded charms from Touch of Avalon might interest you, or one of the high end designer fashion options from Coach or Tiffany & Co.
Regardless of your personal style, budget or lack thereof, you will be able to find a BlackBerry Pearl charm with minimal effort. Have fun with your search, you never know what you will find.
