Don’t expect the world from the 9000 series

Posted by Joe on November 23, 2007

Way back when, we found a report that the BlackBerry 9000 series was nearing a release. Since then, the Internet has exploded with rumors positioning themselves as facts. And the originators of the rumor, the fine folks at Boy Genius Report, are sick of all of this false information. They’re even calling many reports “a little misguided.”

The biggest development they reported was a touch screen, which would help them even the pace with the iPhone and the Palm Treo. However, BGR says that if you think the mechanical keyboard is going anywhere, you’re nuts. They already took enough crap for changing the click-wheel to a trackball.

Technology insiders and analysts are humorous to say the least. They have been replaced with the likes of internet blogs run by teenagers and forums that feature all enthusiasts. For the likes of Carmi Levy, whomever he is, to come out as an authoritative figure on the subject and re-hash dated information that will likely never see a launch (at least in 2008), we find it humorous.

So wait, does this mean we won’t see a 9000-series launch in 2008? Time will tell, we suppose. But until then, we’ll patiently wait, reporting anything we hear, but accompanying it with the proper rumor warnings (as we did with the original 9000 series post).
