I have the latest version of the Sprint-Aol Messenger, and I have to say it is as good as it gets. Real time... very close to it. I have been a Sprint/Nextel subscriber for a very long time... and this is def one of the best advantages.... afterall we are the last to get the latest devices ;-(

Apparently, there is a new version out for Sprint users who got their hands on the new pearl 2. I tried to download to my 8830 but it would not work.

"We have to admit that something does peeve us about the BlackBerry. It advertises instant messaging, but that’s really limited to BlackBerry Messenger." - blame your carrier because I downloaded, and installed, GTalk and Yahoo Messenger from RIM.

I just purchased a Blackberry, and use Nextel/Sprint as a carrier. I have had lots of trouble downloading the AIM software, but have found several alternatives while Sprint tells me "the AOL server is down, has been for about a week". I didn't like to hear that, and would prefer to use AIM itself. I will keep trying to download, but every time I try the request times out. It leaves something to be desired for sure, but all in all I am happy with the speed of the current client I'm using in the mean tim! :)
